Windows Client & Windows Server for Small Business

The HP Magic Giveaway!

is now on at AbsoluteVista.com

The HP Magic Giveaway is 'the main event' of this Christmas Season*: a giving of a massive amount of computing hardware and software HP and Microsoft to single person for both personal use, and for giving it forward to other deserving people or organizations.

As with that breakthrough Giveaway earlier this year, The HP/BuzzCorps 31 Days of the Dragon Giveaway, this giveaway is also by bloggers, this time expanded to 50 bloggers, again from around the world. The bloggers have also been given carte blanche to create contests, and sole determination in the selection of the winners.

I was selected to be in this august list of bloggers, and it goes without saying that I am grateful to HP, Microsoft, Corel, and BuzzCorps for my inclusion.

The Contest

For this contest, I have a few very simple rules:

  1. My contest is open to all inhabitants of this planet, known severally as Earth or Terra or Sol-3. Please be advised that we tend to favor sapient inhabitants. However, if a troglodyte’s entry is the best, then we have no choice….
  2. Create a short animation describing the HP Magic Giveaway, and the good it will bring to you, and a few lucky persons/organizations you so decide to re-gift to this Christmas.
  3. An acknowledgement of HP and Microsoft for this giveaway immediately attaches mondo points to your score.
  4. Working in a group of more than one, letting us know that there will be more than one enjoyer of this giveaway is a boon.
  5. Gratuitously praising me may or may not work.
  6. Staying on points 1 & 2 matter more than anything else.
  7. Be prepared to assign certain usage rights to me, and by proxy,  AbsoluteVista.com and all our related websites, including but not limited to SmallBizVista.com, and this website, SmallBizWindows.com. My statement of the assigned rights can be found here, and the assignment of these rights are non-revocable. Your submission  of your original content will be taken as agreeing with that assignment of rights statement.
  8. If you are an immediate member of my extended family, sorry, you are immediately DQ’d. for you can certainly afford a system.
  9. I am going to attempt to review as many of the giveaway items s possible. However, since I want the winner(s) to have their winnings by Christmas day, I will be mindful of the time constraints imposed on shipping, and make sure that the systems are shipped in time for enjoyment of that day.
  10. The contest starts at 12.00 am on December 8, 2008.
  11. I will receive submissions until 12.01 am on December 14, 2008, and I will make my decision on the winner before 11.59 pm on the same day.
  12. Oh, my decision is final.

What is in this giveaway?

A detailed description of the items in this giveaway can also be found on SmallBizWindows.com.

A list of reviews from a cross-section of the community will be posted shortly.

*I use Christmas to describe this season for several reasons. However, it is your season, whatever your faith or beliefs are.

BuzzCorps wins 2008 WOMMIE!

Congratulations!

To Chris Aarons, Geoff Nelson and, Nick White on winning this august award.

I have just heard that BuzzCorps, that innovative Social Media marketing firm, has won the 2008 Wommie Award from the Word of Mouth Marketing Association or WOMMA.

What is a Wommie?

WOMMA's Wommie Awards were created to recognize amazing word of mouth campaigns and the fabulous people who create them. Word of mouth has been around for as long as people have been talking, but word of mouth marketing -- actually harnessing, amplifying, and improving the consumer conversation -- is a comparably new phenomenon.

The top award this year was given to BuzzCorps for that groundbreaking, and impressive global campaign, the HP/BuzzCorps 31 Days of the Dragon Giveaway. (Of which this website was a participant.)

To say that the 31 Days of The Dragon Giveaway was a success is like calling the May Bach an average luxury car.

With that giveaway, BuzzCorps created a buzz, pun intended, around a product that was at the very high end for laptops, and, most importantly, redefined what could be given away in a contest.

I had the privilege of interviewing Geoff and Chris last June in Austin, Texas, and I shall update this post with a link to that video interview as soon as I post it on Silverlight, or even YouTube.

My congratulations also go to Terri Stratton for behind-the-scenes logistical management and support for BuzzCorps.

The SmallBizWindows Interview: Chris Aaron & Geoff Nelson, BuzzCorps

I recently had the opportunity to interview Geoff and Chris about their incredible project, the HP/BUzzCorps 31 Days of the Dragon Giveaway.
